The Turkish government will meet with representatives of Instagram after blocking access to the social network. Millions of users lost the ability to communicate, and companies lost contact with customers due to blocking.

Turkey's government will hold talks with Instagram officials on Monday amid the blocking of access to the social network last week, the country's transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said on Platform X, reports UNN with reference to Reuters.

Details

Uraloglu said Turkey expressed some sensitivity to compliance with Turkish laws at a preliminary meeting with Instagram officials last week.

"As a result of the blocking of Instagram in Turkey, millions of people have lost the ability to communicate with family and friends, and companies can no longer communicate with their customers in the same way," said a representative of the company Meta (META.O), which owns a social media platform.

Turkey ranks fifth in the world in terms of Instagram users with more than 57 million, after India, the United States, Brazil and Indonesia, according to Reuters.

Thousands of people on Platform X protested against the blocking of Instagram in Turkey.
