According to Bloomberg, during the April event, an armed man broke through the security zone. The Secret Service evacuated Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other senior officials.
31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen from California has been charged with using a firearm to commit a violent crime and assaulting a federal officer.
This will be Trump's first speech at the event
Bloomberg notes that this will be Trump's first participation in the annual White House Correspondents' dinner. During his first presidential term, he never attended this event.
The dinner will also honor the memory of a Secret Service employee who died in April and the hotel staff who were on duty during the incident.
