The United States has announced new sanctions against the Iranian oil trade, despite a previous agreement between Washington and Tehran to extend the ceasefire and ease restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by Reuters with reference to the US Department of the Treasury, according to UNN.

The sanctions target eight vessels that, according to US authorities, were involved in the transportation of Iranian crude oil and petroleum products. Among them are the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker Flora, the Comoros-flagged Hauncayo, and the Panama-flagged Ill Gap.
"We will not allow the Iranian government to increase its oil revenues for the purpose of rebuilding its armed forces and military capabilities,"
In addition to the vessels, sanctions were also imposed on more than 15 companies, including those from Hong Kong and Dubai. The US Treasury Department stated that some of these entities used the oil sales infrastructure of the Iranian armed forces to purchase petroleum products outside of Iran.
