The government has allocated UAH 700 million for modern school classrooms and STEM laboratories - Svyrydenko

As part of the New Ukrainian School reform, the government approved the procedure for providing UAH 700 million in subventions for the creation of modern educational spaces in schools. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, UNN reports.

According to her, the state is moving from piecemeal re-equipment of schools to comprehensive renovation of classrooms and offices.

As part of the implementation of the New Ukrainian School, we continue the systemic renewal of educational spaces in schools. We are changing the approach - from piecemeal re-equipment to complete renovation of classrooms

The funds will be used to purchase equipment, multimedia equipment and furniture for biology, geography, mathematics, physics, chemistry classrooms, as well as STEM laboratories. At the same time, repair work should be financed from local budgets or with the support of partners.

This refers to the third stage of the NUS reform - the creation of a senior specialized school.

Communal educational institutions that will join the network of specialized senior schools in 2027 or are already specialized lyceums will be able to receive the subvention. They must also conduct classes in person or in a mixed format, have at least 60 students in the eighth grades, and provide at least 10% co-financing from the local budget.

Projects will be selected on a competitive basis. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine will separately announce the terms of participation and the start of accepting applications.
