Shooting and hostage-taking in Kyiv qualified as a terrorist act - Kravchenko

A criminal case has been opened under the article on a terrorist act that led to the death of people, following the shooting of civilians and the taking of hostages in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. This was announced by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko, UNN reports.

A criminal proceeding has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a terrorist act that led to the death of people – following the shooting of civilians and the taking of hostages in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital.

The identity of the shooter has been established – he is a man born in 1968, who used a registered firearm.

Six people died as a result of the attack. Among them are a man who died at the scene and a woman who died in the hospital from her injuries. Their son, born in 2015, is in a children's medical facility with a gunshot wound, where he is receiving the necessary assistance.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office. In cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine, all necessary measures are being taken to establish the circumstances of the crime, as well as the motives for its commission.
