Police detained the organizer of the 'green corridor' to Moldova. The offender offered to provide an escorted escape abroad for $9000-9300, using radio stations and drones.

The organizer of the “green corridor” to Moldova was detained in Odesa region. The offender promised to provide escape abroad for more than $9,000; he offered escort options: communication via radio stations and transfer to the state border. Another scheme of making money on men liable for military service was exposed and documented by investigators of the Odesa District Police Department. The smuggling channel was organized by a previously convicted 38-year-old resident of Odesa.

It offered “clients” to choose one of two routes of the “green corridor”:

  • safe, with alleged military escort through official checkpoints and roadblocks in Cherkasy region, which cost $9,300;
  • more risky - for $9,000 within the Odesa region with taxi delivery almost to the state border.

Payment was to be made in several stages:

  • 400 dollars as a “deposit” in cash;
  • the rest - to a bank card or crypto wallet before departure.

According to investigators, the offender received an $800 advance from two men of military age. Subsequently, the organizer ordered them to pack the most necessary things and wait for instructions to leave.

The organizer was supposed to provide remote support from Odesa, via pre-transmitted radio stations and even a flying drone.

A group of seven people was assembled. They were told to come to a gas station near Odesa.

However, law enforcement prevented the defendant from completing the criminal scheme.

During the authorized searches of the organizer's car and residence, police seized the vehicle, five cell phones with SIM cards, two certificates of membership in public organizations, and money - over 61 thousand hryvnias, 6,260 dollars, and 800 euros.

At his home , two pistols that looked like PMs with magazines for them, ammunition, containers with various substances of synthetic and vegetable origin in the form of crystals, powder, pills, mushrooms, etc., electronic scales and packaging material were seized from the offender.

Investigators initiated two criminal proceedings under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which qualifies illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives  and under Article 309 of the same code  - illegal production, manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation or transfer of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues without the purpose of sale.

He faces seven to nine years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property. “In the course of the investigation, we will identify other persons involved in the 'transfer' of conscripts and citizens who may have used their services.
