One Sri Lankan citizen was hiding from law enforcement in sunflowers, and two others were hiding in corn. UNN reports this with reference to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Details
The movement of the men 50 meters from the state border was recorded by a video surveillance system. The foreigners' movements were tracked by a drone.
Law enforcement officers detained one of the men 100 meters from the border, hiding in sunflowers. And a few hundred meters from the place where he was found, two more were hiding in corn.
The detainees were citizens of Sri Lanka.
As it later became known, the foreigners arrived in Ukraine last fall and stayed in Ukraine beyond the visa period. Having no legal grounds for entering the EU, they decided to get there outside the checkpoints.
The men planned the route and started the journey in the dark, hoping to go unnoticed.
The detainees were taken to the border guard unit. After all the circumstances are clarified, they will be brought to administrative responsibility for attempting to illegally cross the border, the SBGS added.
