Poland’s Ministry of Internal Affairs refuted a fake report about a Ukrainian attacking a 15-year-old Pole with a knife, calling it Russian disinformation. The attacker turned out to be Polish, and the victim is also a Polish citizen.

The incident occurred on the evening of August 7 on Prince Bolko I Street in the town of Kamienna Góra in Lower Silesia. A 15-year-old teenager was attacked with a knife and stabbed in the neck.
The boy underwent surgery over the weekend, but he is still fighting for his life: his condition is very serious, and he has lost a lot of blood.
Police detained two 16-year-old teenagers who may have been involved in the attack. After questioning, one of them was released to go home. The second—the suspect in the stabbing—was taken to a police juvenile detention facility.
Soon after information about the stabbing was made public, social media was flooded with comments speculating that the attacker was Ukrainian. Some also suggested that the police had deliberately withheld the suspect’s nationality, although law enforcement agencies do not disclose this in most cases.
Karolina Galecka, spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, warned that spreading unverified information—not based on reports from the police, fire service, court, or prosecutor’s office—is disinformation intended to inflame negative emotions between Poles and Ukrainians.
