The Italian Prime Minister will propose appointing a single EU representative for negotiations on Ukraine.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni plans to propose the appointment of a single European Union representative to participate in potential negotiations regarding Ukraine. She intends to present this initiative during the EU leaders' summit in Brussels at the end of this week, UNN reports, citing The Guardian.

According to the publication, Meloni advocates for the European Union to have one authorized representative in the negotiations to settle Russia's war against Ukraine.
At the same time, the head of the Italian government believes that such a negotiator should be a representative not of the largest EU states, but of a medium-sized country.
"The negotiator should come from a medium-sized country, not from among the largest states," Meloni stated.
The initiative comes amid discussions in Europe regarding the format of potential negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the role of the European Union in a possible diplomatic process.
The Guardian notes that the proposal could become one of the key topics of the upcoming EU summit in Brussels and influence further discussions regarding Europe's representation in negotiations surrounding the war in Ukraine.
