Harris will be more hawkish, while Trump is unpredictable - expert

Brian Whitmore predicts that Kamala Harris may pursue a more decisive pro-Ukrainian policy than Biden. As for Trump, the expert expressed concern about his isolationist stance and sympathy for Putin.
If Kamala Harris wins the US presidential election, her policy toward Ukraine will differ from that of current President Joe Biden. This was stated by Brian Whitmore, a non-resident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, during the 10th Kyiv Security Forum for Youth, UNN reports.
"I hope the Harris administration will be a little different. She belongs to the younger generation, she was a prosecutor, and we can see this as a duel between Prosecutor Harris and the criminal Putin," he emphasized.
Regarding Donald Trump, the expert said that his future policy is completely unpredictable.
"His rhetoric and the rhetoric of his vice presidential candidate, J.D. Vance, shows that he will be coming from a traditional American isolationist position. He doesn't seem to me to be friendly to Ukraine, he doesn't seem to have any sympathy for Ukraine and its people," said Brian Whitmore.
He also recalled Donald Trump's threats to withdraw from NATO. Although this did not happen, Trump stopped paying attention to NATO issues in general.
In addition, the expert recalled how Donald Trump has said several times that he respects Putin.
"I am really very concerned about this. I expect that the traditional American approach, the pro-Ukrainian approach, will be supported by the Harris administration. And it will be perhaps more decisive than in the Biden administration," Brian Whitmore summarized.
