The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has established a coordination center for combating illicit trafficking in firearms, their parts, components and ammunition, which in 2023 seized more than 5,500 firearms and 2 million rounds of ammunition from citizens.

Director of the Department of Informatization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Sumsky reported that this year 355 thousand applications have already been submitted to the Unified Register of Weapons, 337 thousand of which have been processed and issued. In general, the number of people who want to obtain a permit to purchase or store weapons is increasing.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that in all of 2023, law enforcement officers seized about5,500 firearmsand 2 million rounds of ammunition from citizens.
