York Cookis said that the German contribution of bilateral support to Ukraine for 2025 is "secured, as well as guaranteed in full" in the preliminary budget agreement.

According to the draft budget for 2025, German aid to Ukraine was reduced to 4 billion euros from about 8 billion euros in 2024.

But disputes between the ruling parties and, ultimately, the collapse of the federal Coalition and the appointment of early Bundestag elections put this on pause.
