The IOC has chosen the French Alps to host the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The decision was made at the 142nd IOC session in Paris, but requires guarantees from the French government until 2025.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has chosen the French Alps to host the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2030, the IOC said on Wednesday, UNN reports.

"The French Alps will host the XXVI Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2030. This decision was made by the IOC members today during the 142nd IOC session in Paris," the statement said.
It is noted that the vote depended on the provision of a guarantee to hold the Games within the timeframe set by the IOC Executive Committee, as it was impossible before the host country's elections for constitutional reasons in the current political context in France.
As stated, the guarantee to host the Games must be received from the Prime Minister no later than October 1, 2024, and must be ratified by the French Parliament no later than March 1, 2025.
"President Macron and all the stakeholders in the French Alps 2030 today reaffirmed their full commitment to the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. We are fully confident that France will organize an outstanding Winter Olympics with the same creativity, imagination and flair that we are currently experiencing in Paris 2024," said IOC President Thomas Bach.
