The Brovary City Council has introduced free sports and recreation programs for the military and their families. These include swimming in the Kupava pool and diving rehabilitation for wounded soldiers.

There are important social programs in Brovary aimed at rehabilitating and supporting Ukrainian soldiers, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and family members of fallen defenders. In particular, one of these initiatives offers free sports and recreation classes for combatants and their families. Olena Akopian, an advisor to the mayor of Brovary, told UNN in an exclusive commentary.

For the defenders of Ukraine and family members of the fallen, we have a program for sports and recreational swimming lessons. The Brovary City Council issues special certificates to visit the Kupava swimming pool, which are free of charge, and people have the opportunity to visit the pool from 8 am to 9 pm as part of this program. This is an important initiative not only for the residents of Brovary, but also for the IDPs who are now here. We help people recover psychologically and physically, because water has a significant healing effect

- Hakobyan said.

She also noted that a diving rehabilitation program for wounded soldiers was launched in Brovary.

"We see this program as a rehabilitation program for the military and their families. However, it is important that each participant undergoes a medical examination and has a doctor's permission," said Hakobyan.

She said that people with various types of injuries, including traumatic brain injuries and concussions, can participate in this program, which requires special conditions for training and medical support. But their participation is possible only with a doctor's permission.

According to her, the local authorities are currently making sure that specialists, rehabilitators and medical workers are with the wounded during diving rehabilitation.

Hakobyan added that the first diving rehabilitation class has already taken place this week, with two people attending. The next lesson will be held on Saturday.

We help people to recover psychologically, not only IDPs, but also the wounded, people who are with their military families - they are all going through stress, and in this way we try to restore people and switch from this problem, water is generally healing

- she said.

These programs are an example of important social initiatives aimed at supporting and restoring those affected by the war, helping them to find the strength to live and continue to fight for their rights and a decent future.

Recall

Earlier , UNN reported that the city authorities of Brovary are developing a program for 4-5 years to improve accessibility and comfortable movement of people with disabilities. In particular, the Brovary community plans to equip special lifts for people with disabilities in apartment buildings. According to Mayor Ihor Sapozhko, this option is optimal for the community's old apartment buildings.

Recently, the Brovary City Veterans Center launched a project to teach diving to soldiers who lost limbs, family members of the fallen, and IDPs. Classes are held at the Kupava swimming pool and include theoretical and practical training.
