The Defense Forces and the Security Service are conducting enhanced security measures in the northern regions of Ukraine bordering Russia and Belarus, the SBU reported on Thursday, UNN writes.
In execution of the decision of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the SBU and other units of the Defense Forces are conducting a complex of enhanced security measures in the northern regions of our state. These measures are unprecedented in terms of the number of forces and assets involved in the territories bordering Russia and Belarus and will serve as an effective deterrent against any aggressive actions or operations by the enemy and its ally,
The relevant work, as indicated, is coordinated by the Anti-Terrorist Center under the SBU, and in addition to the Security Service units, the National Police, the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service are also participating.
The comprehensive measures involve large-scale preemptive actions in the areas of counterintelligence and counter-sabotage protection in the Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Volyn, and Rivne regions,
Primarily, the work of the relevant groups, as reported, will be aimed at "preventing enemy penetration into border areas, the commission of sabotage and terrorist acts, the conduct of subversive and reconnaissance activities, and other war crimes."
It is indicated that, among other things, security forces will:
- carry out enhanced checks of citizens located within the territory where security measures are being conducted;
- conduct inspections of the territory and individual premises to identify items prohibited from circulation.
The preventive work, as noted by the SBU, is taking place taking into account the legal regime of martial law.
"During its implementation, restrictions on passage and travel through the streets of certain settlements, document checks of citizens, and vehicle inspections are possible," the report says.
The SBU asks citizens "to treat possible inconveniences with understanding and to respond appropriately to the lawful actions and demands of law enforcement officers, to have identification documents with them, and to observe the curfew."
"We emphasize that in its activities, the Security Service adheres to the principle of legality and the constitutional inviolability of the rights and freedoms of citizens. We thank all our brothers-in-arms and all the Security and Defense Forces with whom we jointly protect the Ukrainian State! Glory to Ukraine!" - the SBU emphasized.
