Iran has denied Putin's information about the evacuation of 4,000 Iranian troops from Syria. In fact, a smaller number of diplomats and advisors from different countries were evacuated using both Russian and Iranian aircraft.

Iran denied Putin's statement about the evacuation of 4,000 Iranian soldiers, reflecting the growing tension between the countries.

This was reported by UNN with reference to the Center for Countering Disinformation.

Iran is disappointed with Russia's support

Center for International Policy notes that Iran's refutation of Putin's statement about the evacuation of 4,000 Iranian soldiers from Syria underscores the growing tension between Tehran and Moscow.

Iran supports Russia in its war against Ukraine, but at the same time is disappointed that Moscow has failed to effectively help it in Syria, Lebanon and Yemen. Moreover, Putin has accused Iran of failures in Syria, which has only complicated relations between the two countries. The alliance between the two states will remain situational and based solely on temporary benefits for both.

Tehran explained that it was actually diplomats, not military personnel, who were evacuated, and that the evacuation was carried out not only by Russian but also by Iranian aircraft. The number of evacuees was much smaller than Moscow claimed. Among the evacuees were also advisors from other countries, such as Afghanistan and Pakistan.
