A million dollars for avoiding extradition to russia - a person with "connections in the top leadership of the SBU" has been notified of suspicion

SAP and NABU have notified a person of suspicion who demanded $1 million for assistance in resolving the issue of the victim avoiding extradition to the aggressor country and being brought to criminal responsibility. This was reported by the SAP press service, according to UNN. 

Details 

According to the investigation, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted a search at the residence of a citizen who had a temporary residence permit in Ukraine.

After the search, a person who had connections in the top leadership of the SBU contacted the citizen and said that for $1 million they could prevent his extradition to the Russian Federation, as well as his criminal prosecution. The funds were to be transferred in four tranches of $250,000 each. Subsequently, the person with connections in the SBU received part of the funds from the victim in the amount of $50,000. However, the suspect did not plan to transfer them to law enforcement officers — he appropriated the funds together with an acquaintance of the victim 

After that, the person with connections to the SBU continued to demand the remaining amount, openly threatening the victim with physical violence and restriction of his legal rights if he refused to transfer the funds allegedly for bribing SBU officials.

However, the remaining amount was never paid due to certain circumstances. The suspect's actions are qualified under Part 4 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 15, Part 3 of Article 369, Part 5 of Article 190, Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
