Zelenskyy appoints new ambassador to Luxembourg - who is Yaroslav Melnyk

Zelenskyy has appointed the Ambassador to Belgium, Yaroslav Melnyk, as the representative to Luxembourg concurrently. Previously, the diplomat headed the Ukrainian mission in Italy.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Belgium, Yaroslav Melnyk, as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg concurrently. This was reported by UNN with reference to the relevant presidential decree.

Details

Yaroslav Melnyk was born on January 6, 1980, in the town of Dubrovytsia, Rivne region.

From 1996 to 2002, he studied at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. He earned a Master's degree in International Relations and English translation.

In 2012, he completed his studies at the Institute of Postgraduate Education of the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering. He earned a degree in Economics.

In July 2002, he took the oath of a civil servant of Ukraine. From 2002 to 2008, he worked as a leading specialist, head of a sector, deputy head of a department of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and deputy Head of Protocol to the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

From 2008 to 2010, he served as deputy head of the trade and economic mission of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Italian Republic at the Consulate General in Milan under the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

From 2010 to 2014, he was the First Deputy Head of the Main Department of State Protocol and Ceremonial of the Administration of the President of Ukraine.

On April 9, 2014, he was appointed Head of the Main Department of State Protocol and Ceremonial of the Administration of the President of Ukraine.

On September 21, 2020, he was appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Italy, replacing Yevhen Perelygin, who was dismissed in July.

On August 11, 2021, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of San Marino concurrently.

On December 13, 2021, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Malta concurrently.

On July 21, 2025, he was dismissed from his current positions and appointed Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium.
