Germany will not evacuate its embassy from Kyiv despite Russian threats regarding attacks on May 9. Diplomats do not plan to change their presence in Ukraine.
German Federal Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, commenting to Bloomberg on the Kremlin's threats and calls for the evacuation of embassies from Kyiv, stated that Germany has no intention of changing the operations of its diplomatic mission in the Ukrainian capital. This was reported by UNN.

According to the diplomat, Berlin does not plan to reduce or terminate the activities of its diplomatic mission in Kyiv, despite pressure and statements from Russia.
"We are in close contact with other embassies. We will not allow ourselves to be intimidated by this. We know the Russians and the methods they resort to,"
Wadephul emphasized that the Russian Federation is conducting not only military actions against Ukraine but also an active information campaign against Western countries that support Kyiv. According to him, such pressure methods are part of a broader strategy aimed at weakening the resolve of Ukraine's allies.
Context
Recently, the Russian Ministry of Defense called on the civilian population of Kyiv and employees of foreign diplomatic missions to "leave the city in a timely manner." This is allegedly related to a supposed attempt by Ukraine to disrupt the parade in Moscow on May 9 and retaliatory strikes on Kyiv by the Russian Federation.
EU Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Anouar El Anouni reported that the European Union will not evacuate diplomats from Kyiv despite Russia's threats leading up to May 9. Brussels called Russia's statements part of a reckless escalatory tactic.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that official Kyiv does not recommend representatives of foreign states to visit Moscow on May 9.
