"First night at the Stade de France, and we already have our first world record! It was set in the first race of the 4×400 meter mixed relay," the statement reads.
It is noted that the U.S. team - Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Bryce Dedmon and Kailyn Brown - crossed the finish line in 3:07.41, improving the previous record by more than a second.
According to Reuters, they set the previous record of 3:08.80 at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.
"I always knew we were going to run fast, and we talked about how it would take a record to win a medal," said American Shamier Little.
