"The Navy received another mine countermeasures vessel from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Within the framework of the Maritime Capability Coalition, Dutch partners handed over an Alkmaar-class minehunter to the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Neizhpapa wrote.
During the official ceremony, the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy reported that he "had the honor of raising the flag of the Ukrainian fleet on the new minehunter 'Henichesk' in the presence of the Commander of the Royal Netherlands Navy, the Commander of the Belgian Navy, and the Commanders of the Navies of Romania, Lithuania, and Latvia."
"The ship was named after the raid minesweeper of the same name, which was lost while performing a mission covering comrades from a special unit in 2022," Neizhpapa noted.
The Commander of the Ukrainian Navy "thanked the Dutch crew for their service, care for the ship, and maintaining it in excellent condition." "I assured them that with the Ukrainian crew, it will continue to worthily perform tasks and contribute to security in the Black Sea and, if necessary, beyond its borders," he added.
"'Henichesk' will strengthen our capabilities in mine countermeasures—searching for, detecting, and neutralizing naval mines. Following its transfer, there are now five mine countermeasures vessels in the Navy. Previously, Great Britain handed over Sandown-class ships 'Cherkasy' and 'Chernihiv' to Ukraine, and Belgium and the Netherlands handed over Alkmaar-class ships 'Melitopol' and 'Mariupol.' I thank our partners. We are working for a common victory!" Neizhpapa stated.
