The Ukraine national team, under the leadership of Maldera, has begun its training camp in Lviv. An open training session and friendly matches against Poland and Denmark are planned.

The Ukraine national football team, led by Andrea Maldera, has begun a training camp in Lviv. This is the first time since the start of the full-scale war that the team has gathered in Ukraine. This was reported by the UAF press service, according to UNN

"We are starting the training camp," the UAF reported, publishing a video. 

The footage shows the arrival of several players at the team's location, including Shakhtar players Yehor Nazaryna and Mykola Matviyenko, Everton defender Vitaliy Mykolenko, Lyon forward Roman Yaremchuk, as well as Roma forward Artem Dovbyk, who is returning to the team after an injury. 

In addition, debutants have joined the national team: Universitatea Craiova defender Oleksandr Romanchuk and CF Montréal winger Hennadiy Synchuk. 

The team is staying at the Emily Resort base, which serves as the training facility for Rukh Lviv.

Also on Wednesday, June 3, an open training session of the national team and a meeting with fans will take place in Lviv. The event will be hosted at the Skif Stadium in Lviv. It starts at 16:15. Tickets are free.

The President of the Ukrainian Association of Football, Andriy Shevchenko, previously stated that the UAF plans to bring the national team closer to the fans, which is why the team's first training camp is taking place in Ukraine.

"And whenever possible, we will look to hold more such camps. There will be events for our fans to bring the national team even closer to the supporters," Shevchenko noted.

He also mentioned that as long as hostilities continue in Ukraine, friendly matches involving the national team are practically impossible. 

Reminder 

Italian coach Andrea Maldera took charge of the Ukraine national football team following the dismissal of Serhiy Rebrov. Previously, Maldera worked for the national team as an assistant to Andriy Shevchenko, who currently heads the UAF.

Under Maldera's leadership, the team will play a friendly match against Poland on May 31, and against Denmark on June 7.

Maldera announced the squad for the friendly matches against Poland and Denmark. Two newcomers will join the national team: defender Oleksandr Romanchuk and midfielder Hennadiy Synchuk. Andriy Yarmolenko also returns to the national team, having last played for the side in March 2025. 

Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Volodymyr Brazhko will replace Yehor Yarmolyuk in the Ukraine national team squad for the upcoming training camp and matches against Poland and Denmark. 

The head coach of the Ukraine national team, Andrea Maldera, has handed a late call-up to goalkeeper Heorhiy Yermakov. This is the first call-up for the Ukrainian goalkeeper.
