Trump launches investigation into EU's multibillion-dollar fines against Google and Apple

U.S. President Donald Trump said he is launching an official investigation because the EU unfairly imposed multi-billion dollar fines on Google, Apple and other American companies, UNN reports citing AP.

Trump made the statement a day after the EU fined Google 890 million euros ($1 billion) for what it said was the tech giant's violation of antitrust law in the digital sphere by creating Google Play and its widely used search engine to redirect consumers to its own services and apps.

In a social media post, Trump said he had warned the EU about the practice of fining American technology companies. He named Google, Apple, Meta, Amazon and others.
