Only one project has been approved for the construction of the heating network in the capital’s Teremky district; alternative routes were part of the search for the optimal design solution. This was stated by Petro Panteleiev, acting first deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration, UNN writes.

According to the official, the creation of backup heating systems is one of the key areas of Kyiv’s Resilience Plan. He clarified that this concerns providing heat to 200,000 residents.

The conditions of wartime are, unfortunately, harsh and categorical: we must achieve the maximum result with minimum expenditure of money and time. The pipelines in Teremky are being laid in accordance with the only approved design documentation. There are no other developed, let alone approved, projects on which funds would have been spent. The removal of trees in the heating network construction zone is a forced step that will make it possible to lay an alternative heating main for the Teremky-1 and Teremky-2 neighborhoods within the shortest possible time. There is currently no other engineering corridor for laying this heating network

- Panteleiev stated.

He noted that the project’s technological concept began to be developed even before the full-scale war. Specialists studied possible options for laying the network, conducted research and held expert consultations. At the same time, the network-laying options that are now referred to as separate alternative projects in various public sources were actually design solutions worked out at different stages of the process. No separate approved design documentation existed for them, and no budget funds were spent on their implementation.

Panteleiev emphasized that the area is to be restored after the construction work is completed. The project provides for the restoration of the landscaping and green area.

The Kyiv City State Administration noted that some of the greenery within the construction corridor must be removed for this work. After construction is completed, the area will be fully restored, landscaping work will be carried out, and new trees and other greenery will be planted.
