Star deer Borys involved in second traffic accident on the way to Kyiv, suffering from severe stress - volunteers

Social media star Borys the deer has been involved in another traffic accident. This time, the accident occurred during transportation to the capital. According to the Wild Animal Rescue Center, there are no visible injuries, but Borys experienced severe stress, UNN reports.

As reported by the Rescue Center, the accident happened tonight at 00:37, while volunteers were returning from Zarichne, Rivne region, with Borys the deer.

"Gamekeeper Ruslan Khrystiuk contacted us and reported that Borys was losing weight and his injured antler was growing incorrectly. The antler needs to be removed, and such a complex operation requires careful preparation so that the deer can survive it. That is why Mr. Ruslan asked us to take him. On-site, we performed a follow-up X-ray of the deer's injured leg, specifically the hock joint where a fracture had been detected. The images show that everything is healing, and surgery on the leg is not required, so we set off on the road with Borys," 

The Center emphasized that they understand all the risks on the road and do everything possible to transport animals safely.

"We drive very slowly and with maximum attention; while carrying the injured deer, we protected him like a crystal vase to avoid hitting potholes or any obstacles. But not everything on the road depends solely on us, and unfortunately, another car crashed into our vehicle. Poor Borys has been in an accident for the second time in a short period, once again suffering from human negligence," 

Volunteers note that Borys has no visible injuries, which is quite surprising given that the impact was very strong; however, the deer experienced severe stress, which could also affect further treatment.

"Currently, the deer is safe at our Center, where he has been given supportive therapy and had tests taken,"

In the Rivne region, Borys the deer was struck by a car at night; the driver was located and three administrative protocols were filed against her; there is no threat to the injured animal's life. 

At the end of March, it was reported that Borys the deer's condition had stabilized. There is no threat to his life.
