Serhiy Batrin, a deputy of a village council in Zakarpattia, who detonated grenades during a meeting, faces life in prison.
The investigation into Serhiy Batrin, a deputy of the Keretsky village council who blew up grenades during a village council session in Zakarpattia, has been completed, and the indictment has been sent to court. This was reported by the SBU and the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office, UNN reported.

An indictment was sent to the court on the fact that the deputy of the village council committed a terrorist act that led to the death of people, as well as illegal handling of explosive devices. For this, Batrin faces life imprisonment. He is currently in custody in the Zakarpattia Penitentiary (№9).
According to the investigation, on December 15, 2023, in the village of Keretsky, Khust district, during a meeting of the village council, the accused threw three grenades on the floor of the hall, which immediately detonated.
On that day, the deputies were electing the secretary of the village council, considering financial issues - the budget for the next year and the terms of remuneration of the village council chairman. It was in order to influence these decisions that the man committed the terrorist attack
It was established that he had been preparing for this in advance - he had been searching for grenades for several months before and had purchased two RGD-5 fragmentation offensive grenades and an F-1 hand-held fragmentation defensive grenade from an unidentified person. He kept them at his place of residence in the village of Kushnytsia.
The grenade attack injured 26 members of the village council, including him. Two of them were killed. One died the next day after the incident, the other a month later. Their deaths were caused by multiple shrapnel wounds sustained as a result of the grenade explosion.
The terrorist attack also caused property damage to the Keretsky village council. Experts estimated that the damage amounted to UAH 78 thousand. The village council has already filed a civil lawsuit against the accused to reimburse these funds.
