Ukrainian troops successfully shoot down a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber equipped with cruise missiles, destroying such an aircraft for the first time.

Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, said that today's successful operation to shoot down a Russian Tu-22M3 bomber was not all that was planned. The Ukrainian Defense Forces will continue to surprise the enemy - in a good way for Ukrainians -. He said this on the air of a telethon, a correspondent of UNN reports.

The operation lasted over a week. At its core, it repeats to some extent the techniques that were used to destroy the strategic reconnaissance aircraft (A-50 - ed.) during the flight - this is the first such successful operation. The Tu-22MZ was destroyed, and the enemy did not expect it

 said Yusov.

He expressed hope that after the destruction of the Tu-22MZ, the situation in Odesa region will improve for some time in terms of the risk of missile attacks.

"After the destruction of the A-50 aircraft and after today's destruction of the Tu-22MZ, there is hope that the situation will improve for Odesa region in terms of the risk of missile attacks for some time," he said.

But this, of course, is not all that is planned, and the Security and Defense Forces will continue to surprise the enemy in a good way for us

- Yusov said.
