Before the shooting of Republican candidate Donald Trump, an armed man was spotted as he was climbing to the roof of a nearby building. Rally participants who saw the gunman alerted local police.
This is confirmed by two law enforcement officers. However, the police officer was forced to stop.
A local police officer went up to the roof and confronted Crooks, who pointed a rifle at him. The officer retreated down the stairs and Crooks quickly fired at Trump

The FBI has identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Bethel Park is about 50 miles from the scene of the shooting.
An FBI spokesman said investigators have not yet determined a motive.
