Poland strengthens control on the border with Belarus: new electronic barriers

Poland has introduced electronic barriers on the rivers of the border with Belarus in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. This was done due to an increase in attempts of illegal entry and attacks on border guards.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland has announced the launch of new monitoring technologies on the Polish-Belarusian border. In particular, electronic barriers have been introduced on the border rivers with Belarus.

The entire section of the Polish-Belarusian border in the Podlaskie Voivodeship (located in its north-eastern part, bordering Belarus and Lithuania) is equipped with an electronic monitoring system.
Pressure on the border
On April 5, Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosyniak-Kamysh stated that on the night of Friday to Saturday, 300 attempts of illegal entry into our country were recorded on the Polish-Belarusian border. The number of attempted attacks on Polish officers who ensure border security may increase, the agency believes.
