Performers were promised $5,000 — prosecutor revealed details about the terrorist attack in Brovary

The terrorist attack in the private sector in Brovary, which occurred on April 13, was committed by two Ukrainians on the orders of Russian special services. Dmytro Prokudin, head of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, told UNN about the details of the case on the air of the telethon.

According to him, the suspects were detained within a few hours. They turned out to be a 23-year-old resident of Brovary and his 17-year-old accomplice, who was detained while trying to leave Ukraine. This was done by employees of the National Police together with the SBU.

What is known about the motives of the crime

Prokudin noted that law enforcement officers are currently clarifying the motive of both suspects for committing the crime.

Investigators believe that both suspects acted on the orders of Russian special services for a monetary reward.

They received UAH 150,000 for preparation. And they were promised 5 thousand dollars after the execution.

— said Prokudin.

What awaits the detainees

The men have already received suspicion. A court hearing will take place in the coming days, at which they will be chosen a preventive measure. The prosecutor's office insists that it should be detention without the possibility of posting bail.

Currently, the actions of both detained men are qualified as a terrorist act. In this case, the Criminal Code provides for 12 years of imprisonment, or life imprisonment if the consequences of the terrorist act were severe.

As of now, according to the head of the regional prosecutor's office, the youngest suspect in the crime may receive a prison sentence "longer than he has lived."

"Russian trace" in the terrorist attack: what is known

We are sure that this is a "Russian trace". We see this from the collected materials and from the "handwriting". Because in the Kyiv region alone, this is already the second such case recently. It is even similar in the way the perpetrators were recruited.

– says Prokudin.

He clarifies that this working version of the investigation was confirmed by data from the detainees' phones and the results of searches at their homes.

Prokudin also added that this incident is far from the first time that Russian special services have used messengers and online platforms for recruitment. The latter are especially popular among teenagers and young people who play various games.

He clarified that it is not yet known exactly by what criteria recruiters choose people and how they are "accounted for" among the general mass.
