Discharge from the AFU by Presidential Decree will take priority over contracts - Fedorov
Kyiv • UNN
Military personnel can sign a contract for 24 months, while Presidential decrees on discharge will take priority. The General Staff will create a calculator for calculating terms of service.

Starting from late autumn 2026, Ukraine will begin the process of partial discharge of military personnel who have been in the army since 2022 or earlier, with the President's decree taking priority over signed contracts. This was stated by the head of the defense department, Mykhailo Fedorov, in an interview with TSN, UNN reports.
Details
According to him, if a service member has been serving since 2022 and hears that discharge from service will begin in some format, but does not know if they will be demobilized, they can sign a contract for 24 months.
"And if you fall under the discharge in November or December, the effect of the President's decree will take precedence. Despite the fact that you signed a contract,"
He specified that the General Staff will determine exactly which military personnel to discharge based on data regarding the number of combatants and terms of service.
"We will create a calculator. Every service member will be able to see in which month they might fall (under discharge from service - ed.)," Fedorov explained.
Recall
The Cabinet of Ministers published Resolution No. 768 regarding changes to salary accruals for military personnel of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, special purpose police officers, as well as foreigners serving in the ranks of the Ukrainian army. The document defines additional payments for the military, possibilities for "motivational contracts," as well as criteria for obtaining a deferment after demobilization.
