Mercedes-Benz has announced a partnership with German startup Tytan Technologies to produce anti-drone systems, becoming the latest automaker to join forces with the defense industry. This was reported by CNBC, according to UNN.

It is noted that the German automaker signed a memorandum of understanding during the ILA 2026 International Aerospace Exhibition.

Mercedes will focus on "vehicle-based platforms for protecting people and critical infrastructure from drones" based on the G-Class and Sprinter models,

The publication points out that such cooperation makes the Stuttgart-based company the latest European automaker to "turn to the defense industry as the automotive industry faces difficulties."

"The defense sector has been booming since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, requiring Europe to become more self-sufficient in its defense production," the article says.
