During a meeting with representatives of French industry, Macron said that investments in the United States should be suspended for the time being until the problem is resolved.
The comments came weeks after French shipping company CMA CGM announced plans to invest $20 billion in the United States to build logistics and terminals. The French president added that the response to reciprocal tariffs would be "more powerful" than the previous response to US tariffs on steel and aluminum. He also proposed using a mechanism to counter coercion by the United States.
