Volyn customs officers seized 8 undeclared luxury bags from bus passengers at the Yahodyn checkpoint. The offenders will pay a fine of 30 percent of the goods' value.

An attempt to import luxury women's bags from Chanel and Hermes into Ukraine without taxation was stopped at the border, the State Customs Service reported on Tuesday, writes UNN.

"Volyn customs officers stopped an attempt to import women's bags from "Chanel" and "Hermes" into Ukraine without taxation. The undeclared 8 new luxury accessories were found in the accompanied luggage of passengers on a regular bus returning to Sumy from Polish Koszalin through the "Yahodyn" checkpoint," the customs service reported.
Protocols on violation of customs rules under Part 2 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine have been drawn up against the citizens of Ukraine. The goods have been temporarily seized and stored at the customs warehouse.
Both offenders, as stated, expressed a desire to conclude a settlement agreement to terminate the proceedings by compromise. This provides for consent to pay a fine within one month. And failure to declare goods moved across the customs border of Ukraine entails a fine of 30 percent of their value, the State Customs Service indicated.
After paying the fine, customs will clear the goods in accordance with the declared regime and collect taxes established by law on imports.
