Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that US President Donald Trump should not interfere in the country's electoral process ahead of the presidential elections scheduled for October. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.

Lula, who plans to run for re-election, made the statement after Trump called Brazil "a bit rough" and "politically dangerous." In response, the Brazilian leader emphasized that the American president has the right to his own opinion but should "stay out" of the country's internal politics.
The latest verbal exchange between the leaders took place during the G7 summit in Switzerland amid tense relations between them. Lula's main rival in the upcoming elections is considered to be Senator Flávio Bolsonaro – the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, a Trump ally.
Last month, Trump met with Flávio and Eduardo Bolsonaro in the US. Meanwhile, the US State Department criticized a Brazilian court's decision regarding Eduardo Bolsonaro, stating that political disputes should be resolved through democratic elections rather than judicial sentences.
