Lightning tore off part of an aircraft engine with hundreds of passengers on board

A SriLankan Airlines flight made an emergency return after a lightning strike hit the engine. All 207 passengers and 16 crew members remained unharmed.

A SriLankan Airlines passenger plane flying to Sydney, Australia, returned to its departure airport after being struck by lightning during the flight. This is reported by the Daily Mail, according to UNN.

It is noted that as a result of the incident, the aircraft lost part of its left engine, but the landing was successful.
Despite the incident, none of the 207 passengers and 16 crew members on board were injured
It is indicated that after landing, it was discovered that a significant part of the exhaust nozzle was missing from the engine. The airline subsequently provided another aircraft to continue the journey. It departed from Colombo, Sri Lanka, at 05:51 and arrived in Sydney at 20:00 — more than five hours later than the scheduled time.
