Last year, Ukrainians founded 2,206 companies in the Czech Republic, accounting for 7% of all new firms. The share of businesses with Russian owners has fallen by 45% since 2018.

Last year, 2,206 companies exclusively owned by Ukrainians were established in the Czech Republic, which is 50% more compared to 2021. In total, foreigners account for 20% of the owners of new companies, most often citizens of Ukraine and Slovakia. This is evidenced by the analysis data provided to ČTK by CRIF – Czech Credit Bureau, reports UNN with reference to Radio Prague.

Last year, 32,380 companies with owners from only one country were established in the Czech Republic. 80% of them were fully owned by Czech citizens. Citizens from other countries became owners of 20%. The second largest share was made up of firms with owners from Ukraine. 2,206 such companies were established, which accounts for 7% of all new companies.

1,528 companies, 100% owned by Slovaks, entered the Czech market – about 5% of the total.

Also, among the owners of established companies, citizens of EU countries and Great Britain prevail. There are also firms owned by people from Russia. Their number decreased from 331 in 2018 to 181 last year. 45% fewer of them entered the market. Last year, 159 firms, 100% owned by Vietnamese citizens, also entered the market.

Ukrainians make up 10% of the workforce in the construction sector of the Czech Republic, preventing the worsening of the personnel crisis. Their departure after the war will complicate the situation, but also open up opportunities for Czech companies in Ukraine.
