Xi and Putin said that relations between the two countries are "at the highest level in history." Both vowed to jointly protect "regional peace and stability.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, speaking about Ukraine, the Chinese leader reiterated that his country "has always stood on the right side of history," which indicates Beijing's continued support for Moscow.

According to Bloomberg, the demonstration of deepening ties is likely to further irritate Western powers, which are demanding that China stop supporting Russia's war against Ukraine. Beijing tries to present itself as a neutral player, but Kyiv's allies accuse it of providing the Kremlin with technology and parts for weapons used in the war. On Tuesday, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that China could end the war "with one phone call"if it wanted to, because Russia is so dependent on Beijing.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy statedthat Ukraine has no absolute proof that weapons from China are being delivered to Russia.  China could also play a huge role in ending the war, in particular, by helping to put pressure on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on this issue.
