Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets initiated an inspection of a lyceum in Volyn because a teacher was suspected of sexual misconduct against students. The management of the institution did not conduct an investigation, but sent the teacher on vacation.

Information about the alleged molestation of students by a teacher of a lyceum in Volyn is being spread on social media. The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets appealed to law enforcement officers and the lyceum administration to clarify the circumstances of the case. Lubinets reported this in Telegram, UNN reports

Details

According to the Ombudsman, his Representative in Volyn region, Yulia Spas, visited the school to monitor it. According to him, it turned out that the lyceum's management "did not consider it necessary to conduct an internal investigation against the teacher and take appropriate measures to respond to the alleged fact that he committed sexual acts against students."

Moreover, instead of suspending the teacher from work, he was sent on unpaid leave until the end of the school semester.

According to the lyceum psychologist's explanations to the monitoring group, one child, who is the alleged victim, was bullied by other students during his studies. It is known that the child has repeatedly sought help from the lyceum, but all appeals have remained without a proper response from the educational institution, and conflict situations between students have not yet been resolved

- Lubinets said.
