A stepfather who for years molested and raped his underage stepdaughter has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The trial lasted about five years. However, the rapist did not admit his guilt, and moreover, during court hearings, he spoke about his desire to restore relations to again "be a family." As the Prosecutor General reported, in 2011, the man began living with his common-law wife and her 4-year-old daughter. When the girl turned 8, he began molesting her, and from the age of 10, he raped her for at least four years.
According to him, all this time he kept the girl in fear, threatening to beat her for disobedience, and forced her to keep silent about what was happening at home in the absence of her mother. Outwardly, the family seemed prosperous – neither teachers nor relatives noticed anything suspicious.
The truth came out in 2021, when the victim told her pen pal about what she had experienced. He found out her grandmother's phone number and told her everything. After the mother contacted the police, the stepfather was detained. The trial lasted about five years. The defense used all possible means to delay the process
At the time of the verdict, the victim had already reached adulthood, survived the consequences of childhood trauma, but sought to achieve justice.

The court found the man guilty under Part 2 of Article 156, Part 3 of Article 153, Part 4 of Article 152, and Part 6 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code.
