Details
As indicated, a total of 996 stolen objects and 260 Russians involved in this are known. The occupiers conduct archaeological excavations in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, steal cultural heritage objects from museums, appropriating Ukrainian culture.
The fact of illegal removal of 164 archaeological artifacts from the occupied Crimea, found during excavations of the ancient cities of "Nymphaeum" and "Panticapaeum", has been confirmed.
The list of "heritage thieves" includes, among others, the head of the foreign intelligence service of the Russian Federation, Serhiy Naryshkin, who heads the "History of the Fatherland" Foundation and the Russian Historical Society, which has 7 branches in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Since 2022, Russian museums, as indicated in the GUR, have been conducting systematic propaganda activities in the occupied territories: they organize exhibitions, lectures and educational programs aimed at legitimizing the occupation in order to integrate Ukrainian museums into the Russian cultural space and destroy Ukrainian identity.
