French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot arrived in Beijing on Thursday, beginning an official two-day visit. The main points of the agenda were discussions on the war in Ukraine and trade disputes between China and the European Union.
During the first day of the visit, Barrot met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The talks took place shortly before a joint press conference, after which the parties continued to communicate during an official dinner. On Friday, the French Minister will travel to Shanghai, where meetings with local officials and business representatives are planned.
France remains one of the leading supporters of Ukraine in its confrontation with the terrorist country, while China diplomatically supports Moscow and strengthens economic ties with it.

French President Macron stated that Europe is considering the option of deploying armed forces in Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement. According to him, they can become a security guarantee and respond to potential aggression from the Russian Federation.
