Meanwhile, all EU countries agree that none of them should face a deficit. International Air Transport Association (IATA) head Willie Walsh on Friday called on authorities to implement "well-coordinated plans" in case of aviation fuel rationing due to the war in the Middle East.

Walsh also called the International Energy Agency's assessment that fuel supplies could begin to run out in as little as six weeks "sobering."

We have also estimated that by the end of May, we could start seeing some flight cancellations in Europe due to a lack of aviation fuel. This is already happening in some parts of Asia.

According to preliminary data, the likely deficit is linked to the situation in the Middle East. In particular, it refers to Iran's de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz after the start of the war between the US and Israel in late February, which spread to the region.
