Finland to test public warning siren system on June 1

On June 1 at 12:00, Finland will test its public warning system with a seven-second signal. The sirens warn of chemical accidents and drone threats.
In Finland, a scheduled test of public warning sirens will take place on Monday, June 1. This was reported by Yle with reference to the country's Ministry of the Interior, according to UNN.

The testing will begin at 12:00 local time. Tests are conducted on the first Monday of every month, except for public holidays. During the test, a continuous seven-second signal will sound, which requires no action from the public.
The ministry emphasized the importance of distinguishing between the test signal and a real danger warning. An emergency alarm lasts for one minute and features a rising and falling sound. In such a case, people are advised to immediately go indoors and follow the instructions of the authorities.
Sirens can also warn of drone threats
According to the agency, sirens are used to warn the population about smoke, leaks of hazardous substances, gas accidents, and other emergencies. Rescue services can also use the system to alert about drone threats.
The sirens are part of a nationwide emergency information system, which also includes the 112 Suomi mobile application.
