Fifth Easter during the war - Zelenskyy and his wife congratulated Ukrainians on the holiday

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with First Lady Olena Zelenska, congratulated Ukrainians on Easter on April 12 and emphasized the unity, faith, and resilience of the people during the war. This was reported by UNN.

In his address, the head of state noted that for Ukrainians, Easter remains a day of family, warmth, home, and hope, even amidst a full-scale war.

For over fifteen hundred days, Ukraine has persevered in its struggle for life, and along with it, the capital, its people, and their faith remain unwavering.

It is not easy for all of us to wage this struggle, especially in times of turbulence, when it seems the world is hurtling into an abyss, and no one knows what tomorrow will bring. At such a moment, Easter and its meanings tell us how not to give up, where to find light so as not to get lost

The President emphasized that today the war is being waged not only on the battlefield but also in the realm of emotions, characters, spirit, truth, and hope. He noted that it is the meanings of Easter that help Ukrainians not to give up and to find light even in times of uncertainty and turbulence.

Zelenskyy also stressed that Ukraine is celebrating this Easter for the fifth consecutive year under wartime conditions, despite the pain, trials, and danger.

At the same time, according to the head of state, Ukrainians preserve their identity, family traditions, and desire for life. The President mentioned the Easter basket, pysanky (decorated eggs), pasky (Easter bread), home decorations, trees, and flowers as symbols of the people's desire to see life flourish around them.

The President expressed hope that after the fifth Easter during the war, the first peaceful Easter will come to all Ukrainian land, when the Easter bells will no longer be interrupted by air raid sirens, and all Ukrainians will await their loved ones from the front, captivity, and occupation.

Ukraine stands firm, stubbornly, unshakeably, knowing for whom and for what. So that the first peaceful Easter on all our land for all our people comes after the Fifth Easter in times of war. When the Easter bell is not disturbed by the siren of alarm. When winter and all evil retreat from our land, and everyone awaits their loved ones from the front, captivity, occupation

At the end of the address, Zelenskyy and his wife wished that the hope and warmth of this day would unite the hearts of all Ukrainians.
