The court has chosen a pre-trial detention measure for the deputy head of one of the departments of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia", who was exposed for receiving an unlawful benefit. He was taken into custody with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of 4.3 million hryvnias, UNN reports with reference to the Office of the Prosecutor General and the SBI.

Today, April 10, a pre-trial detention measure was chosen for the deputy director of the Environmental Safety Department of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia", who was exposed for extorting 100,000 US dollars from an entrepreneur. The court ordered detention with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of 4.3 million hryvnias

Details

According to the investigation, a representative of a mining company approached the UZ official regarding the processing of documents for the dismantling or relocation of a railway track that was on the balance sheet of "Ukrzaliznytsia" and passed through the territory of the deposit.

The official assured that he could help with obtaining permission for dismantling at the company's expense, but demanded 100,000 US dollars for it.

To confirm his "obligations", he promised to provide a receipt for the money.

He was detained immediately after receiving the full amount and providing a receipt.

He has currently been notified of suspicion of receiving an unlawful benefit on a particularly large scale (Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

This article carries a penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported, the deputy director of the Environmental Safety Department of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" was detained while receiving a bribe of 100,000 dollars, which he demanded for resolving the issue of writing off the track.
