The Czech Republic is ready to provide Slovakia with capacities for natural gas transportation and storage. This decision was taken against the background of the termination of Russian gas transit by Ukraine through its territory.
The Czech Republic is ready to provide Slovakia, its closest neighbor, with its own natural gas transportation capacities as well as gas storage facilities for storing the blue fuel. Such a statement was made by the country's Minister of Industry and Trade Lukas Vlcek against the background of the termination of Russian gas transit by Ukraine, which since February 2022 has been opposing large-scale Russian military aggression, through its territory, Radio Prague International reported on December 31, writes UNN.

The Czech Ministry of Industry said it is ready to ensure gas transportation to Slovakia in the long term, not just in emergency mode.
“The cessation of gas transit through Ukraine has the potential to negatively affect the stability of supplies to some countries in the region. The Czech Republic is prepared for this situation thanks to its strategic investments and reliable infrastructure. The steps we have taken earlier allow us to offer Slovakia sufficient capacities for natural gas transportation and storage,” the Czech minister wrote in a letter sent to Slovakia.
