Court dismisses charges against actor Alec Baldwin: what is known

A judge dismisses involuntary manslaughter charges against Alec Baldwin in the case of the fatal shooting in the movie Rust.
The lawyers of actor Alec Baldwin filed a motion to close the case of the unintentional murder of cameraman Galina Hutchins. They argued that state investigators did not inform them that one person had provided the investigation with a box of ammunition that could be related to the case. Writes UNN with reference to CNN.
Judge Mary Marlow Sommer heard several hours of testimony, after which she ruled in favor of the defense and dismissed the case against Alec Baldwin with prejudice, which excludes the possibility of reopening it.
"The state's violation of discovery has resulted in an unnecessary, unnecessary delay in the jury trial. Dismissal with prejudice is warranted to ensure the integrity of the judicial system and the efficient administration of justice. Your motion for dismissal with prejudice is granted," the judge said.
The decision came after a tense hearing on Friday, which came just days after Baldwin's trial began on charges of involuntary manslaughter in the death of cameraman Galina Hutchins, who died on October 21, 2021, while filming the western Rust in New Mexico. Baldwin, who pleaded not guilty, could have received up to 18 months in prison. When the decision was announced, Baldwin hugged his wife, Hilary, in tears.
