"Charged" up to $20,000 for fake disability and travel abroad – twin brother doctors exposed in Kyiv region

Twin doctors organized a scheme for traveling abroad through fictitious disability for $20,000. The perpetrators were detained while receiving the money.
In the Kyiv region, twin brother doctors have been exposed for organizing a scheme for the illegal departure of men abroad, charging $18-20 thousand for fabricated disabilities, UNN reports, citing the Prosecutor General's Office.
Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, suspicion has been notified to two twin brothers—doctors at medical institutions in Kyiv and Mykolaiv—who organized a scheme for the illegal departure of men abroad by processing fictitious disabilities,

According to the investigation, the medics promised to "resolve the issue" through connections in medical expert commissions. For money, they were to ensure the entry of false data into medical documents and the establishment of a disability group without legal grounds, which enabled travel outside of Ukraine during martial law.
The cost of such "services" ranged from 18 to 20 thousand US dollars. The funds were transferred in installments—as an advance and after the documents were processed.
In March 2024, the doctor from the capital received the first tranche of 3 thousand US dollars; when the next part of the money was being handed over, law enforcement officers detained both brothers. During a search of the medic from Mykolaiv, previously received funds were seized.
Currently, all circumstances of the crime and the circle of individuals who may have used the scheme are being established.
At the request of the prosecutor's office, preventive measures have been chosen for the suspects—detention with the right to post bail.
