Cabinet proposes to cancel the benefit on import parcels up to 150 euros – Koretsky

The government approved a draft law on canceling the VAT exemption for imported goods up to 150 euros. The new rules may come into effect no earlier than 2027, and gifts up to 45 euros will not be taxed.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law that provides for the abolition of the VAT exemption for imported goods worth up to 150 euros purchased through foreign marketplaces. Today, the Government approved and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law that changes the taxation rules for imported goods purchased through foreign marketplaces
According to him, currently imported goods worth up to 150 euros arriving in Ukraine via international postal shipments are not subject to VAT. The Government proposes to abolish this benefit and bring Ukrainian legislation in line with the norms of the European Union.

At the same time, the Prime Minister emphasized that private gifts worth up to 45 euros, which are sent free of charge, will continue to be exempt from taxation.
We must create equal conditions for all market participants. This is a matter of supporting Ukrainian producers and fair competition. We expect that this decision will provide over UAH 10 billion in additional budget revenues annually
According to Koretsky, if the draft law is adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, the new rules will come into force no earlier than 2027, so that businesses, marketplaces, and delivery operators have time to prepare for the changes.
